Snow and Ice Collection
We have sent dozens of mountaineers to collect vertical columns of snow from elevations above 15,000ft. This data is used to understand how the "albedo effect" is melting glaciers from the top down in addition to the melting that is occurring from climate change from the bottom up. This work has shown that glaciers are melting more quickly that was previously predicted.
By understanding the accurate rates of melting, governments around the world are better equipped to plan for the inevitable loss of glaciers, which provides water to billions of people worldwide.
We are looking for adventure volunteers to provide snow/ice samples from above 15,000 feet all around the world.
